SEC fines UK $25,000 for on-field celebration

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Southeastern Conference announced Thursday that the University of Kentucky will be fined $25,000 for a violation of the league's policy concerning access to competition area. The violation occurred after Kentucky's 31-28 football victory over South Carolina last Saturday when fans flooded onto the field at Commonwealth Stadium.

Kentucky's last violation occurred on Oct. 13, 2007, after its 43-37 victory over top-ranked LSU. Its other violations, both in football, occurred on Nov. 4, 2006, and Sept. 15, 2007, after wins over Georgia and Louisville, respectively.
