But here the Wildcats are: 4-0 heading into a matchup of unbeatens when No. 7 Nebraska comes into Bill Snyder Family Stadium on Thursday night for a key Big 12 North clash. Kansas State, which has defeated the likes of UCLA and Iowa State while barely escaping Central Florida, holds the distinction of being the only undefeated FBS school that is still unranked.
A win over the Cornhuskers at home in front of a national television audience would change that come Sunday. It would be almost fitting -- considering this intense North division rivalry has long existed and is coming to an end with Nebraska heading to the Big Ten next year.
"I think you always have an opportunity. The opportunity is there," said K-State coach Bill Snyder, who returned back to the sidelines last season for his second stint leading the Wildcats. "If you tee it up, you've got the opportunity. It's taking advantage of the opportunity that becomes the most significant thing. I think our young people understand that. I think they will make every effort, every attempt take advantage of the opportunity that they have."
