Some Titi love ?

MONTCLAIR, N.J. -- Red Bulls striker Thierry Henry you haven't see the real Thierry Henry yet. And you probably won't see him until next year.

"This year I don't think I will reach the top of my form," he said. "You will see the true me the next season when I will go through a proper pre-season. I'm not coming from a mentally hard season. You're going to see the true me next year. But I like to fight and try to give what I can give right now."

Henry, who joined the Red Bulls in July, has found the back of the net but twice in 10 MLS matches entering Saturday's home game against Real Salt Lake at Red Bull Arena. The former French international has been credited with three assists.

Henry has been hampered with a knee injury. Red Bulls coach Hans Backe said he wanted to see his scoring star play 60-65 minutes in the 1-0 win over the Kansas City Wizards last week. Henry played 74 until midfielder Carl Robinson replaced him.

"I didn't feel bad in the game," Henry said after practice at Montclair State University on Thursday. "I had a little knock at the very beginning of the game on the side with the center back."

After playing his entire career in Europe, Henry is not accustomed to the MLS playoffs, where players have to watch themselves at the end of the regular season and try not to burn themselves out because there is a mini-season, a much more important one right around the corner.

"It's kind of weird," he said. "You've got to have an eye on the playoffs to make sure that you don't arrive there too tired or injured. But also you have to try to clinch the first spot. So you have to deal with it. The most important thing is to get everyone fit and not injured just before the playoffs."

And you know what also is weird to Henry? That MLS teams play when the U.S. National Team performs. The Americans play Poland in Chicago on Saturday and Colombia in Philadelphia on Tuesday.

"It's kind of weird being in the position we're in," he said. "You play in the league, you still have a lot of international games around. In Europe if you have an international game, nobody plays, apart from the Second Division and stuff like that. That's the way it is."
